This event features an esteemed panel of Bay Area chefs of Les Dames d’Escoffier who have paved the way in fine dining and beyond. Moderated by Kara Nielsen, San Francisco chapter president, the Q&A session will feature:

  • Suzette Gresham—executive chef/owner of two Michelin-starred Acquerello
  • Kim Alter—chef/owner of Nightbird
  • Liza Hinman—chef/owner of The Spinster Sisters and Sonoma chapter president

Presented in collaboration with Les Dames d’Escoffier San Francisco and Sonoma chapters and Villa Albertine, consulate general of France in San Francisco.

The Reel Taste Film Festival is a festival and celebration to honor outstanding achievements by creators who use their skills to showcase food, culture, and the arts.

Each day of this four-day event will include culinary events that feature interactive cooking classes and pop-up brunches, lunches, and dinners with top chefs, as well as wine and beverage experiences such as wine tastings and beverage masterclasses with renowned winemakers and beverage experts for an unforgettable exploration of Napa Valley’s flavors.

Experience the Truffle Hunter life with an Exclusive Screening and White Truffle Chef’s Dinner

Truffles—not just any variety, but the luxurious earthy white beauties. There’s nothing in the world like it! Join us for an exclusive Chef’s Dinner featuring Sabatino white truffles following the award-winning documentary, The Truffle Hunters (2020) on Saturday, December 7. Follow the story of hunters who go deep into the forests of Piedmont, Italy in search of the rare and expensive white Alba truffle. Now, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience this exclusive ingredient as part of CIA at Copia’s Flavor of Film series.

Dinner is crafted by Chef Roland Passot and Chef Tobias Nah of Perbacco who are also part of the discussion panel with Umberto Gibin from Perbacco in San Francisco and Thomas McQuillan from Sabatino. And, as an added treat, you’ll get to meet the talented truffle-hunting dog, Elio, and his owner Jonah Ward as they share their personal stories about truffle hunting and their unique lifestyle.

Elijah must balance his dream of becoming a master sommelier with his father’s expectations that he carry on the family’s Memphis BBQ joint.

Dinner and Conversation:

Following the film, there will be an engaging Q&A session moderated by the founder of Napa Valley Noir, Kelly E. Carter with actors Mamoudou Athie and Courtney B. Vance and along with filmmaker and director of Uncorked, Prentice Penny to explore the movie’s themes and ideas in greater depth. The evening will culminate in a one-of-a-kind BBQ Chef’s dinner with Chef Darryl Bell of Stateline Road Smokehouse, complemented with curated wines provided by members of the Association of African American Vintners (AAAV).
